Steps to take to become a driver with Hitch

Car Requirements (updated Jan 2025):

  • Subcompact Vehicles, Compact Sedans, and Trucks are Not Allowed on the Hitch Platform.

  • Mid-size sedans, all SUVs, and Vans must be 2015 or newer.

  • Four Doors: This ensures room for luggage and riders alike.

  • Clean, fully operational, and well-maintained.

  • Vehicles must also be added to the driver profile along with necessary details before submitting the application.

*Compact sedans model years 2020–2025 and pickup trucks are allowed in College Station, TX.

Required documents:

  • Active Vehicle Insurance

  • Active License

  • Active Registration

How to apply:

  1. Download the app on iOS or Android. Applying through our website is currently not possible.

  2. Create an account

  3. Go to to the Driver tab

  4. Click apply

  5. Submit documents

  6. Wait for background check to complete

  7. We’ll notify once we’ve reviewed your application

  8. Ensure your Vehicle Profile is complete and up-to-date before submitting your application.

Background checks

We use Checkr as our background check provider. You are required to complete an industry standard background check in order to drive with us. Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email to initiate the background check process. It typically takes a few days to complete.

  • Drivers must be 21 and over

  • Transportation Industry Standard Background Check:

    • County Criminal Search (Current)

    • National Criminal Search (Standard)

    • Sex Offender Search

    • SSN Trace

    • Global Watchlist Search

    • MVR check
