Scheduling a Ride with Hitch

Scheduling a ride with Hitch is simple and easy. We provide two options for booking a trip - our app and our website.

Booking for Someone Else: If you need to book a ride for your friend, ensure that your friend has a Hitch account. You can book the trip on their behalf and reach out to Hitch support to transfer the booking to their account. Direct bookings by admins are not supported.

We are app-based, so you will need to download the app before your ride. After downloading the app and creating your account, here are the steps for booking through the app:

  1. Tap the 'BOOK NOW' box on the main screen.

  2. Input your exact starting address followed by your destination street address.

  3. Select the date you would like to travel.

  4. Then, tap either "Nearby" for station-to-station transportation or "Door" for door-to-door service. Not all products are available in all locations.

  5. If you choose to be picked up at a nearby location, the closest location to your address will appear. If this location is unsuitable, tap the current location to view a list of alternative locations. Select your preferred one. Our partner locations are marked with a blue check.

  6. Repeat this process for your drop-off location.

  7. Specify the number of passengers. If you select more than one, only private car options will be available. Only private options will be available if you indicate you're traveling with a pet. Please refer to our Pet Policy. This is an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with our luggage policy as well.

  8. You can choose a departure time from the options provided.

  9. Review your choices.

  10. Confirm and book your ride.

Driver details will be available in your app 1 hour before departure.

Please note that you must enter a payment method in the 'Payments' section of the app before booking a ride - even if you have a promotion that discounts the ride to $0.

If you need to cancel your ride, no problem! You'll do so in your app.

You'll tap the ride card from the "Upcoming Trips" screen to cancel your scheduled ride. From there, select "cancel" and confirm cancellation.

Cancellation policies vary by product and route. The cancellation policy for your particular trip will be displayed on the confirmation screen and on the cancellation screen.

As noted at both the booking and cancelation point, we refund in Hitch Credits - not to the payment method. These credits never expire and will automatically apply to the next booking. For Standby rides, if your Standby ride has already been confirmed, it will be treated as a guaranteed ride, making it ineligible for cancellation or refunds. Similarly, if you have used a one-time exception for a prior trip, additional refunds or credits will not be issued. You will also receive a notification in the Hitch app once your Hitch Credits have been processed. These credits should appear in your account shortly after processing. Always check your app for confirmation after canceling a ride.

How far in advance can I book?

You can book rides for the same day or up to 60 days in advance.
