How far in advance can I book?

You can book your ride up to 60 days in advance - or as little as a few hours before departure time.

If you want to select another date, tap the date at the top of the departure schedule page and choose the day that works for you from the calendar pop-up.

How can I change or cancel my scheduled ride?

Should you need to change the time or location of your scheduled ride, you'll cancel the scheduled ride in your app and rebook a new ride with the change of information you need.

How will I know the status of my driver application?

After Submission

After submitting your driver application on the Hitch app, you will be returned to the home screen. Your application has successfully been sent in for review and approval.

Approval Time

We're a small team; approval can take time as we manually manage each application. We are always hiring drivers, so if your application is in process, we will move it through the approval flow as best we can.

Common reasons for delays include factors such as incomplete information on applications, discrepancies in submitted documents, or high application volume. Ensuring that all submitted details are accurate and up-to-date can help minimize delays.

Wait time may vary depending on the validity of your documents and the processing time for the background check. Usually this happens within a few days. How Hitch Standby Works

Standby is our most affordable way to ride between cities. When you book a Standby seat, we’ll search for open spots in scheduled rides and reserve your seat once one becomes available.

This means confirmation occurs only if an available seat is matched with a driver, differing from direct booking options like Shared, Private, or XL trips that guarantee a ride upon reservation.

If we can’t match you with a seat, your booking will be automatically canceled—and you won’t be charged.

You’ll only be charged if a seat becomes available—and at any time before confirmation, you can book a guaranteed ride if you prefer to lock in your trip.

Will I get a ride?

Your Standby booking will be confirmed once we find an open seat. We'll notify you as soon as your ride is confirmed — either via email or in the app. You’ll also see the latest possible confirmation time after you book, so you always know what to expect.

Several factors can influence the timing of your ride confirmation:

Driver Availability: Hitch matches riders with drivers based on availability, which might lead to confirmation closer to your trip's scheduled time if drivers are limited near your location.
Matching Timing: Many rides are confirmed just hours before departure, depending on when a seat opens up. Stay updated by checking the app or confirmation email for the latest possible time when a confirmation is expected, as these details are shown during booking and also sent via notification

Timing Policies for Airport Pickups

When a passenger books a ride to or from the airport, coordination is key to ensuring a smooth experience:

Meeting Points: Passengers can specify their terminal for easy pickup. If no terminal is mentioned in the booking, drivers should wait in a nearby cell phone lot or designated ride-share pickup area until the passenger establishes communication.
Communication Details: Drivers and passengers can access each other's contact information through the app, starting 1 hour before the trip. This ensures easy communication to confirm exact meeting points and timing.

What to Expect

Your driver will meet you in the Arrivals area and will have your contact information one hour before your scheduled departure time. This allows for easy coordination of your meeting with the driver. Passengers are encouraged to monitor the Hitch app for updates. Ensuring you have buffer time when scheduling and planning early can make your experience smoot

How many bags can a rider bring?

What Riders Can Bring:

Single-Seat (Shared Ride): 1 carry-on suitcase + 1 backpack
Private Ride: As many bags as safely fit in a 4-door sedan (usually 2–3 standard suitcases).
Hitch XL: As many bags as safely fit in an SUV or van (usually up to 4 standard suitcases). If you’re bringing larger items like a bike or golf clubs, you’ll need to book an XL.

Important:

Bags must be secured and must not block your view or operation of the vehicle.
If you bring more luggage than what will fit in the car, your ride may be canceled. Please choose and pay for the appropriate product based on the amount of luggage you are bringing.
Riders must travel with their items — package delivery is currently disabled.
