Since we love animals at Hitch, we do allow pets on rides. To ensure your furry friend's safety and the well-being of others in the car, we ask that you follow our pet policy.

  1. For a companion pet or emotional support animal -- please book a private or premier ride - we do not allow companion pets on shared rides.

  2. Please inform the Hitch team beforehand using our Help Chat - in the app or on our website. Please do this even if your animal is an ADA-compliant medical service animal.

  3. For companion pets and emotional support animals, secure your pet in a travel kennel or soft travel bag for the duration of the ride. Your pet must be able to fit, kenneled, in a standard 4-door sedan.

  4. For an ADA-compliant medical service animal, you do not need to crate or contain the animal, and you are permitted on shared rides with your service animal.

Only one pet per ride is permitted.

Following these steps will allow us to pair you with a driver that can accommodate your companion. This way, we can provide you and your pet with the best ride experience with Hitch!

Unfortunately, when not followed, we may have to cancel your ride.

Any damage caused by the companion pet or emotional support animal could be subject to a $150 cleaning fee.

Please note:

Under the ADA, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person's disability.

Hitch complies with all state and federal laws. State and federal law prohibit drivers from denying service to riders with service animals because of the service animal and from otherwise discriminating against riders with service animals.

Drivers have a legal obligation to provide service to riders with service animals.

A driver cannot lawfully deny service to riders with service animals because of allergies, religious objections, or a generalized fear of animals.

Riders cannot be denied service because they travel with a service animal.

While Emotional Support Animals or Comfort Animals are often used as part of a medical treatment plan as therapy animals, they are not considered service animals under the ADA.

We still love them; they can ride with us as companion pets. 🐢

Standard Hitch Rider Policies and Terms of Service apply. Hitch credits and promotions are not stackable - only one promotion can be used per ride. Hitch credits and promotions hold no monetary value, cannot be used for tips, and cannot be transferred to another account. To make any changes to your scheduled ride, you will need to cancel your ride - this may mean you lose the promotion applied to your booking. All rides must start and stop at the time and location of the app booking. All purchases are final sales. Cancellation policies vary by product and route. The cancellation policy for your particular trip will be displayed on the confirmation screen and on the cancellation screen. Lastly, a ride reservation does not include any tips you may want to provide your driver.
